Daily Rhythm/Structure


  • 8.15 Morning meditation
  • 8.45 Breakfast (in silence)
  • 9.45 Work hour
  • 10.45 Coffee break (conversation welcome)
  • 11.15 Silence is resumed
  • 12.30 Lunch. This is the main meal of the day and conversation is welcome.
  • 14.00 Rest/free time – silence is resumed
  • 18.00 Evening meditation
  • 18.45 Simple supper (conversation welcome).
  • 20.30 Slow walking in the garden (in summer).
    or “Bell meditation” in the meditation room in (winter).
  • 20.45 Close of day – (silence is kept).

Silence is observed at all times upstairs, and in the library.

It is important to respect the silence kept in these places and at these times, so that each person has the space in which to hear their inner voice; birdsong; and the wide, delicate silence of the landscape and nature around them. It is in the sharing of deep quietness that one can experience a genuine sense of temporary retreat from the noise and bustle of the world.
